The design is just the start
Unless the design is very simple and can be sketched, everything we
create is produced on our CAD system. Even if we are doing costing
drawings it is important that the design is created in the most efficient
way. Using the computer we can optimise our material usage and
work out the tooling costs for the production of the item. We can also
distribute the drawings electronically to everybody involved in the
manufacturing process.
Once the design has been created we can move on to the
Cutter/Plotter to cut a sample out to make sure everything works as
intended. This facility doesn’t directly improve our design skills but
enables us to develop an idea in the same time it would take to cut
one out by hand. If you need more than one sample of the same
design, again this is much easier to achieve and they are guaranteed
to be all the same.
When we are satisfied that the design works as it should, the master
drawing can be created which is used for manufacturing. We provide
the Artwork Guide with all areas for bleed, gluing and spot varnishing
indicated. Another drawing that perhaps needs to be multiple up is
created for the Repro department to make plates/screens from. The
last drawing is the Cutter Guide which the cutting & creasing tooling
is made from.
Once we have ascertained
your requirement we then need
to start creating your design.
This page outlines the creation
process and what happens
next.
